I looked for over a year to find a car to replace the '93 Shadow. The Mini Cooper wasn't quick enough (even the S doesn't "feel" quick, though I'm sure it would beat the Shadow in a drag race); the VR6 VW Golf was too expensive (plus I still have a bad taste in my mouth from the Scirocco's reliability problems). I finally settled on this, a 2005 Scion tC. It's neat looking without being 'retro', comfortable, affordable and very well equipped... and its 2.4 litre engine has 20 more horsepower and only 20 less lb-ft of torque than the Shadow's 3 litre six. It will outrun the Dodge, and, more important, it feels like it. So far I haven't been disappointed, it's a neat car. Probably won't be bringing home any dishwashers in the trunk though...
